Ceferina was born in the city of Posadas, a province in Misiones Argentina. At an early age her family moved to Buenos Aires, where she grew up and attended elementary and high school in a south suburb of the city. Interested from a young age in courses of an artistic nature, she studied dance with Beatriz Ferrari, theater with Lito Cruz and musical comedy with Pepito Cibrian. She’s appeared on covers of newspapers and magazines including a television appearance on “Sábados de todos” on the ATC network and also participated in a movie directed by Gerardo Sofovich, amongst other artistic works and presentations both in Buenos Aires and inland between 1980 and 1984.
Her ambition to grow as an artist was held back by the difficult time Argentina went through in the 80’s and was the reason for her relocation to Europe, to seek growth and to refine her artform. The first years she spent in Florence, Italy. There she studied Fine Arts, Painting, Restoration and the Italian language among other Hospedale de Firenze. From that time on many trips were taken between Europe |
and Argentina. It wasn’t until 1986 that she decided to settle in Lausanne, Switzerland, teaming with a friend and her sister who dedicated themselves to antique restoration and decor. In 1992 she married a Swiss German publicist and moved to Zurich where her interest in Tourism and Hospitality awakened. While polishing her skills she found employment in internationally renown hotels where she studied and learned the German language.
It was the year 1997 when Ceferina began with tango. Attracted by the dance, she took classes in a small citadel in Zurich where they organized classes and “practicas” of Argentine Tango called “Silbando”. She began working independently with a temporary apartment rental organization for international tangueros.
In 1998 she changed the direction of her work to dedicate herself to executive woman’s fashion, working for a German company situated in Zurich. Parallel to this, she had her first painting exhibition in December of 1998 in a social enterprise Vernissage und Kunstausstellung im Zurcher Brockenhaus, in Zurich.
Always faithful to her interest in art in general, Ceferina continued her vocation, photographing and filming each one of her travels at every opportunity she had.
Now in 2001 and having returned to Geneva, canton Frances Suizo, she began her training in gold, pearls, precious stones and fine jewelry and acted as a consultant for an international jewelry firm.
Her old interest for acting took her back to taking theater classes, developing her interest in cinema directing. In 2004 she decided to move to the United States where she took directing courses at Digital Film Academy of NYC. There is where she made her first short film (written, directed and interpreted by her) called “Historias Cortas de la Vida”. She participated in theater workshops at the Nexus NYC and acted in independent film projects. In 2005 she participated in the making of the DVD of the Boston Tango Festival, with the film work of Don Leedham, photographing the project.
Since January of 2006 Ceferina has found herself settled in Buenos Aires, Argentina to see through the project of the tango academy “Bien Porteño” together with her brother, internationally renown tango dancer and choreographer Armando Orzuza and her sister, Maria Teresa Orzuza. There she will exhibit her photography work “Zapatos de aquí y de mas alla”, accompanied by a documentary about the making of artisan tango shoes in Buenos Aires.
“ In some way I wanted to say that the return to my country and wagering on this project is because I believe that it is possible to succeed. With personal sacrifice, both work and personal experience and the support of my siblings and my people, personal contacts and national and international clientele will contribute to bring forth the realization of this academy.” |
